Potato Day Shop open

Orders have already been rolling in, so grab your seed potatoes, your fruit & veg seeds, your onions, shallots and garlic, and your compost and planter bags while they last!

Everything we sell is at close-to-wholesale prices, and any small surplus goes right back into GAF grants that you can apply for as Allotment Development Awards or New Plotholder Awards later in the year.

Ordering and Collecting

  1. Place your order
  2. Pay online
  3. Check your email for confirmation
  4. Use the link in the email to book a pickup slot
  5. Come to the Sir John Stirling Maxwell Allotments in Pollok Park (don’t get it confused with Southwestern Allotments, which is visible from the main road by the playing fields – SJSM isn’t!)
  6. Plant your crop!

Mini Potato-Day Fire Sale

One last chance to get your hands on some of the stock from this year’s online Potato Day!

Head over to the Sir John Stirling Maxwell Allotments this weekend and browse what’s out on the tables. Everything is reduced from original prices.

If you prefer to pay online first, put your order through on our webshop and just head over to the site to pick it up!

Directions to the Sir John Stirling Maxwell Allotments:

They share a street address with other buildings in the park, so don’t type in their building number on your satnav (we deliberately aren’t telling you it here for that reason!)

Use the name of the plots on Google Maps instead, or follow the map pin below.

Either way:

  • enter Pollok Park the park via the main railway bridge entrance next to Pollokshaws West railway station / the speed camera
  • immediate right turn onto the private single-track lane parallel to the railway tracks
  • the vehicle gate will be unlocked today, so just push it open but please push it closed again after you go through
  • best to drive past the pavilion and turn in the turning circle, and park facing back the way you came (otherwise you’re squashed with your driver’s door along a wall…)
  • just call out for someone if nobody has heard you coming at the gate!

Potato Day (and seed) shop now open

As promised, we’re moving our annual opportunity to buy seed potatoes online again this year. Hopefully next year we’ll be able to return to the usual hall-full-of-stalls event, but at least it’s super easy to place your orders.

  • Place your order now
  • We’ll collect the orders and buy everything wholesale from the supplier
  • We’ll let you know when it’s ready to collect (in a few weeks’ time)
  • (…though if all you’re buying is seed packets, you can choose postal delivery at the checkout!)

It’s a great chance to buy from a much bigger selection than you’d typically find in the usual garden supply shops. All money raised above the cost of the stock goes directly into supporting the Glasgow Allotments Forum, providing opportunities like the Allotment Development Awards, which let plot sites across Glasgow bid for money to improve their facilities.

What’s on sale?

  • Potatoes (43 varieties)
  • Shallots, onion sets and garlic bulbs (11 varieties)
  • Fruit & veg seed packets (151 varieties)
  • Flower seed packets (60 varieties)
  • Compost (4 varieties)
  • plus fertilisers and patio potato bags…

Got questions?

Drop us a line and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can!

Potato Day 2022 – Early Plans

It might still be early days, but the wheels have started turning on plans for next year’s Potato Day!

We’ll again be taking bulk orders from whole allotment sites at a reduced cost – details below.

We’ll then open our online shop for personal orders for individual buyers in mid-January update: open now!

We hope to move back to a physical event as soon as we’re sure it’s safe and manageable, but for this year at least, we’ll keep it simple and go through our website.
