2022 New Plotholder Awards Prizegiving

On 8 October 2022, plotholders from across Glasgow gathered at Growchapel, Glasgow’s newest allotment site, for the prizegiving ceremony of this year’s New Plotholder Awards.

Our prizewinners with Paul B. Carnan, Deacon of the Incorporation of Gardeners, who presented the awards

Following an application process that asked the new plotholders to explain a bit about the condition of their plots to begin with, a bit about their design plans, and a bit about their contribution to the allotment community, a judge from the Royal Horticultural Society visited each shortlisted applicant.

The judge spoke to each new plotholder about their plot in more detail, inspecting progress and asking questions as she went.

Our shortlisted applicants all gathered at Growchapel on Saturday 8 October 2022, enjoying the tea, coffee and biscuits put on by our gracious hosts.

Paul B. Carnan, Deacon of the Incorporation of Gardeners, was on hand to present the awards on behalf of his organisation and of the Glasgow Allotments Forum.

We’ll post more information about their individual plans over on our New Plotholder Awards page. If you’re taking on a plot yourself, make sure to take some photos and you can use them as evidence for your application in next year’s round! First prize nets you a £50 award, second prize comes with £40, and two highly commended positions come with £20 each.
